I help manage equity indices for one of the world's largest investment banks. Initially, my work focussed on indices in the AsiaPac and Americas regions. Since October 2009, I have been based in London, helping manage indices in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region working first as part of the bank's Equity Derivatives Research team, and now as part of the Equities Structuring team.My key responsibilities included stock selection, periodic rebalancing, application of corporate actions and daily index calculations on about 25 custom thematic and quantitative strategy based equity indices. Recently, I have also helped create, backtest and launch a series of Smart-Beta indices as part of the Equities Structuring team.In carrying out these responsibilities, I have leveraged my programming knowledge by automating various aspects of the team’s work, and helped develop a custom index management system used by the team. I have also managed trading, data and compliance-related legal issues related to the indices.

I worked on several assignments with a New York based strategy-consulting firm focused on helping entrepreneurs successfully start, grow and/or exit their companies. I was mainly involved with interacting with these clients and drawing up their business plans and pitch-books.Then, I worked on a Product Control role in London with one of the world's largest investment banks. This involved co-ordinating between teams based in four regions to analyse incorrectly booked derivative trades, resolve bookings, identify process gaps and develop solutions.

I worked on a project for one of the largest banks in the world as a Java/J2EE programmer, helping develop an enterprise-wide communication portal, gaining experience on the complete software lifecycle (Requirements Analysis, Software Design, Implementation, Testing, Deployment and Maintenance).
