As a Technical Support Unit (TSU) to the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department of the Govt. of Tamil Nadu, the project "Sanitation Workers Safety & Dignity Scheme" aims at formulation, piloting, implementing and scaling-up of the scheme across the state. It's a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) supported project. The role is to lead the TSU team at the state and districts level to pilot the scheme at the select Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) and based on the learning scale it across the state of Tamil Nadu with the support of the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA), Commissionarate of Town Panchayats (CTP) and the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC).

● To provide guidance and support to IIHS in the areas of Social Development as a part of the Tamil Nadu Urban Sanitation Support Program (TNUSSP) supported by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation● Anchoring and coordinating various activities, aimed at inclusion, being conducted at State, city and community levels● Enabling convergence and mainstreaming of urban sanitation across various GoTN departments● Implementing strategy for integrating gender at various levels● Scale-up Occupational Safety Standards (OSS) and social security right / benefits of sanitary workers● Interacting with key stakeholders and community members to identify measures to improve inclusion efforts● Interfacing and engaging, consulting and coordinating with all relevant stakeholders including GoTN, NGOs partners, private sector, community-based organizations, communities, institutions and other formal and informal groups● Anchoring documentation and dissemination of all social development activities within the program scope● Providing support as needed on the social development component and City-Wide Inclusive Sanitation (CWIS) project ● Contributing to development of the TNUSSP brand, new projects & donor relations● Providing support to other IIHS activities including academics, research, training, practice, operations and others ● Participating in all activities of Institution & team building at IIHS● Engaging with multi-stakeholders and NGOs platform to project purposes● Leading assignment based multi-disciplinary teams for projects / assignments purpose● Roll-out plan evolved for gender & social inclusion, WASH and livelihood focusing stakeholders across sanitation cycle● Facilitating and exploring partnerships with NUHM, NULM, State Education and Health departments

-Be the focal person to plan, undertake and complete (end to end cycle) the high value integrated community development project- SANKALP -Support, monitor & strengthen the project strategy to fulfill its overall goal, objective and quality-Facilitate stakeholders, donor, team and support services for the success and smooth functioning-Train and build capacities of the entire project team and facilitate capacity building programs for Teachers, AW & Health workers-Coordinate with project stakeholders such as Government Polytechnics, Government ITIs, District Industries Centre & District Administration for under taking various technical and life skill training to youth there to acquire required skills to suit job market-Coordinate with the external departments including Dept. of School Education, Women Welfare and Child Development, Child Labour Dept., Dept. of Rural Development and social forestry, Govt, Financial institutions at state/district level to facilitate linkages-Lead and manage the project office to ensure the organizational standards by coordinating with cross functions (finance, admin, resource mobilization, communications, programs) for operational efficiency
