Managerial/ Leadership Role•Communicating with Business Managers, Product sales personnel, Customer Service dept, Labs (QC; R & D), Purchasing/ Planning, Warehouse/ Logistics and R & D wrt in-process QC tests/rework, time lines for finished product delivery and changes within the Operations•Hiring suitably qualified Team Leaders and Operators for chemical plant•Training, assessing (KPA)•Managing competence of personnel (PPA; PJO)•Taking Disciplinary action according to the organisation’s policy and OHSAS 18001•Scheduling and co-ordinating internal/ external audits & CAPA•Reporting progress and developments to Management•Investigating NC & compiling technical reports on reject product/ customer complaints•Continuous improvement of processes (P-D-C-A)•Maintaining budget – optimising costs (electricity, water, steam, nitrogen) purchasing consumables & equipmentManufacturing•Daily site readings ascertain stock on hand, reactor/vessel levels, temps, pressures•Risk assessment – checked •Override book – ensures control should cut-off levels, temps, pressures be changed or if a back-up system is used temporarily•Ensure cleanliness and integrity of vessels and equipment prior to manufacture•Ensure that the daily production targets are met – lean manufacturing•Ensure that procedures for manufacturing, rework, quality control, etc. are followedProduction planning and procurement•Schedule and chair weekly production meetings with relevant managers (customer service, procurement, warehouse, engineering, projects, production)•Assist with drawing up production plan for the week ahead and update Team Leaders, Packaging storeman & Raw materials storeman on future deliveries for export•Schedule raw material deliveries according to weekly forecastEngineering and Projects•Regular follow up with Engineering team on repairs and maintenance – project management•Involved in HAZOP•Permit to work•Contractor management
