Coris (YC S22) elevates SMB risk management for Vertical SaaS companies and Fintechs

During my short tenure at Google, I led the product team that was responsible for managing payments risk on Google's first-party consumer products such as Play Store, GPay, YouTube, and Google Store.My team was also responsible for horizontal initiatives such as payment instrument risk, payouts fraud risk, and fraud tools for risk agents. Primary accomplishments include developing a clear charter for the team and launching payouts risk management.

Led the new product initiatives for the Global SMB org at JP Morgan Chase, including the business case and a detailed plan for a SMB working capital product. Also worked on the platforms-focused embedded banking initiative to support instant onboarding through WePay APIs for platform users.Led the overall long-term strategic planning for the WePay risk and compliance products, including in the development of "onboarding-as-a-service" product

• At Paysafe group, I was responsible for the risk management for our global Payment Processing business unit• I led the risk teams including credit underwriting, risk monitoring and card scheme compliance teams spanning locations in 3 different countries that were responsible for managing the portfolio loss performance and chargeback rates while providing stellar experience for the merchants enabling them to grow their business

• At PayPal, I led the Large Merchant (LM) risk modeling and solutions team. I built the team from scratch and grew to a strong 10-member team comprising quantitative analysts and risk analysts. I love mentoring and growing the people in my team, as I am passionate about people development. Selected for the Emerging Leaders Program (ELP). My employee engagement and manager effectiveness scores were 100% in 2014• I was responsible for developing and implementing all model/rule based solutions to manage the financial risk and improve the experience for the sellers in the global LM portfolio that had over $120B in total payment volume in 2014• I was responsible for collaborating with merchant risk operations and partner teams to develop and launch multiple risk mitigation solutions that yielded more than $15M in annual loss savings• In 2014, I spearheaded a risk-wide initiative to improve funds availability for PayPal sellers by 30% without material loss impact, which led to a 250% increase in NPS for the seller portfolio• In the last two years, I led the team that built the original risk monitoring solution for the PayPal Working Capital (PWC), an innovative small business loan product offered to eligible sellers, resulting in hugely profitable product and happy customers• I led the team that built Tableau-based portfolio dashboards and risk operations reporting, which were essential to provide visibility to risk mitigation and process improvement opportunities• I was responsible for developing a 'Return on Exposure' framework to evaluate and assess risk-return tradeoffs for different pockets of the global large merchant portfolio for PayPal• One of my responsibilities included guiding the team in developing and testing a configurable policy-driven scorecard to recommend credit risk decisions to the agents using risk monitoring platform, providing guidance to the agents and reducing decisioning inaccuracies

• In 2011, in partnership with external vendors, I was responsible for building the internal merchant risk monitoring and queuing platform and manage the internal merchant risk monitoring and queuing platform. Since then, I have been responsible for managing the platform. Used by more than 200 teammates globally to review risky sellers on a daily basis• I have collaborated with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective collection strategies to improve the negative balance recovery rate for the delinquent population in the PayPal portfolio• In 2012, I led the team that designed, developed and productionalized the 'test-and-learn' pilots towards mitigating credit and fraud risk within the seller portfolio

• As a Senior Strategy Consultant, I consulted with senior business leaders at the client banks and financial services firms to develop and implement collections strategy towards improving the efficacy of their collections process in the proprietary CallTech™ and OnQ™ products• I actively mentored and led other strategy consultants and product specialists towards producing high quality on-time deliverables for the clients• In my role, I worked with more than 6 of the top 10 credit card issuers in US and played a role in more than 25 customer projects spanning more than 10 countries• I was responsible for consistently delivering at least 15% lift in the identified collections performance metrics with the design and setup of optimal strategies, leading to more than $10M in default recovery

As a research associate, I designed a Monte Carlo method based simulation model for prediction of defects in microelectronic assemblies. Further, I owned the implementation, delivery and support of the model as a user-friendly software for a consortium of Electronics Manufacturing Services providers.
