Violet is an award-winning public radio reporter, host and producer passionate about inspiring & enacting change in local and statewide communities. She currently works as a Statewide Daily News Reporter at Indiana Public Broadcasting — a statewide collaboration of NPR and PBS stations. She is based out of member station WFYI Public Media in Indianapolis. Her daily responsibilities include turning multiple “spots” or short form news stories on a daily deadline. She produces 4-5 stories per week and all accompanying tasks — including finding sources, conducting interviews, editing audio & writing/voicing content. As a general assignment reporter, her work has included everything from in-depth coverage on Medicaid and Indiana’s unwinding of recipients, the state’s abortion ban (including coverage of an Indiana doctor scrutinized by Indiana’s attorney general for providing an abortion for a 10-year-old rape victim and of Vice President Kamala Harris’ visit to Indianapolis in light of the abortion ban). She has covered regular and special sessions covering legislation in the Indiana statehouse, completed reporting on priority topics including transportation and environment and been featured on national NPR multiple times. Prior to her time at IPB, Violet reported at North Central Florida’s NPR affiliate, WUFT-FM and Tampa Bay’s NPR affiliate, WUSF-FM. She is a University of Florida alumna with a Bachelor's in Telecommunications and a minor in Italian Studies.
