About Violet (Jingyi) Yang

My name is Jingyi Yang, also go by Violet. I’m an UC Irvine alum with dual degrees in Psychological Science and Criminology, Law, Society mentored by Dr. Jason Schiffman. Currently, I am pursuing my Master's in Clinical Psychology, working with Dr. Cheryl Corcoran. My research explores how psychosocial, clinical, and computational approaches intersect in understanding social determinant of health and its outcome, particularly in psychosis population. Next, I plan to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology, during which I intend to focus on research and clinical work that enhances early identification of psychosis risk through AI and foster cultural-sensitive care.In my personal time, I'm dedicated to freediving and marine conservation. I continue my training in breath-hold diving and advocate for the protection of whales and dolphins in support of UN SDG Goal 14 on Biodiversity. Biodiversity and cultural/racial diversity are equally important!
