I was promoted to Chief Investment Officer in April of 2017. I also currently manage Public Funds department IRR management department.I head the Investment Committee meetings and sit on Executive Management Committee.

In 2011 I was promoted to Investment Manager. Two additional bond analysts were added to my team to assist with IRR model and balance sheet analytics.During this time, I focused on portfolio management based on analytics and incorporated the management of the portfolio by focusing on Total Return versus the traditional yield based approach. As a product of this, there was more focus on bond selection that would produce the highest return with lower risk.The portfolio size increased to as high as $750 million and has averaged between $650 million and $700 million in recent years. Since becoming the portfolio manager, the portfolio composition has changed considerably; allocation to option heavy bonds has been diminished and allocation to better risk reward bonds has increased. Total portfolio turnover since 2014 has been more than $625 million (close to 100% of portfolio size).Allocation to municipal bonds has increased from close to $50 million to about $200 million.Investment portfolio return has been above peers consistently for the past 5 years and the credit quality of bonds has been close to 90 % of holdings being AAA rated. Portfolio Management and composition has been highly rated by OCC examiners and third party portfolio strategist.One of my duties has also been to assist the bank in setting rates for deposit products. Despite the increase in rates recently, the banks Cost of Funds has remained stable. This has been done by closely working with branch personnel in negotiating rates with customers for CD products. Detailed Analytics have been applied by my department in coming up with promotions and cost of funds management.Department is also in charge of liquidity management, wholesale funding, and public funds management.

Using Bloomberg (in-house) and INTEX (third party) analyzed Private Label CMO’s, Agency MBS, CMOs, callable securities among other sectors and suggested strategic rebalancing and allocation based on findings. Supplemented the investment portfolio manager and was his backup.I was also in charge of running the Interest Rate Risk (IRR) model through an outsourced provider. After a year, I implemented the FISERV (Sendero) IRR model in-house; built up the entire process from the ground up. Continuously increased accuracy of model output by thoroughly analyzing model outputs to actuals and formulating assumptions backed by analytics. As part of running the IRR model and back testing model vs actual results, I analyzed the entire balance sheet. Based on findings, made pricing and allocation recommendations on deposits and loans to help increase NIM, EVE and reduce IRR. I served as Secretary to the Investment Committee which met on a weekly basis. Built credibility with bank’s management and the OCC examiners and was promoted to AVP within a year from starting in the position and within two years was promoted to VP.

Assisted customers with account opening, loan applications, customer service, and cross sold mortgage products. Consistently exceeded assigned sales goals.

Managed family owned garments import/export business due to fathers death. Sold imported men’s garments from India to various wholesale customers throughout Rep. of Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia and the Caribbean. Managed sales, inventory and accounts receivable/payable.
