Freshman year of high school, I had outgrown my 15 years old IBM ThinkPad went looking for a new laptop. After plenty of searching, I could not find a laptop on the market that had everything that I wanted so for the fun of it I combined all the things I was looking for in an imaginary design of a laptop. Six months later I was looking up thermal and electrical conductivity values to make sure that this “laptop” wouldn’t overheat or short out, I calculated power consumption and chassis volume to figure out how big of a battery I could fit in this design and how long would a full charge last. At some point I thought, that since I designed everything else, might as well design the motherboard and cpu from the ground up too. Now I am a Computer Engineering major.
