Most recently, Virgil served as Chief Operating Officer, Rate Management at Magaya Corporation, with a focus on reducing costs via innovation driven by AI and Machine Learning. As CEO of Catapult International he led the company through a transformation by digitizing rate management. Previously, he was co-CEO of an asset management marketplace startup for the Boston Consulting Group helping convert a BCG project to a separate business. With an entrepreneurial approach, Virgil has an ability to identify opportunities and diversify product offerings. His credibility helps create long-lasting relationships that enable collaboration and innovation. Virgil helped INTTRA reach 90% market penetration with its shipping instruction product by leading business development, and product adoption efforts. At Catapult, Virgil forged relationships with upcoming startups and leading technology companies that led to innovative solutions in the rate sector of the industry. Virgil also executed the vision to digitize rates, spearheading the collaboration between the top 50 freight forwarders and global ocean carriers to directly integrate rates disrupting the ocean sector, taking management of contracts from more than 24 hours to minutes, if not just a few seconds. Virgil is currently advising startups in the logistics sector.Originally from Portugal, Virgil has lived in the US (New Jersey, Miami) most of his life and had a four-year stint in Europe (Copenhagen and Hamburg).
