  I am currently the Lead in the Documentation Support Group (DSG). The DSG is the central control point for all Master publications, Source documents, Ordnance Alterations (ORDALTS), Retrofit Specifications (RSs), Retrofit Installation Documents (RIDs) and Shop Copy materials used for weapons processing. My position provides support for the Intermediate Maintenance Activity (IMA) of all Technical Documentation used for Heavyweight (HWT), Lightweight (LWT) torpedo, and Vertical Launch ASROC (VLA) test equipment as well as IMA related processes and publications used by the torpedo Depot. I track, update and install Changes and Waivers provided for compliance to standards. The DSG processes more than 1,200 Changes and/or Waivers annually. DSG is also responsible for a 100% page check audit on more than 560 Publications and Shop Copies within a set parameter (90 day or Annual). I provide weekly and monthly reports to the managers of the IMA. If identified for cancellation, I remove all existing copies distributed in the IMAs technical documentation. My specific accomplishments to date include correcting and updating an existing database and spreadsheets that track all of the Technical documentation and installed Changes and Waivers. The existing database, although functional, was hard to use and often allowed for incomplete installation or removal of Changes and Waivers due to inconsistent nomenclature. This update was particularly important due to the nature of the work accomplished in the IMA and to maintain an inspection ready status at all times. The DSG is a critical element of the Torpedo Certification Examining Board (TCEB) inspection and can effectively shut down the IMA if found to be unsatisfactory. I also assisted in the creation of a directive for “Operation of the DSG”, updated the existing “DSG Desk Guide” and revamped the Qualification Card so that the process would be standardized and repeatable for all facets of the position.
