Owner
Consultancy in Informaton Security research. I have been involved, as a contractor, with the EU project SECONOMICS. Had also contracts delivering inventories and categorization of information sources useful for security risk management: from cybersecurity authoritative sources such as NIST, ENISA, CERT, SANS to security databases, vendors bulletins and advisories, security intelligence mailing lists and blogs, news channels. Having access to first hand security information has become a competitive advantage, therefore, clients are more and more interested in getting to know the content of sources specialized in security vulnerabilities and threats, and in structuring them.
Postdoc Researcher
Researcher of the VRIEND project. This project addressed security risks in decentralized enterprise networks, i.e., extended enterprises. One threat which emerges in such context is the External Insider Threat. I investigated what distinguishes "external insiders" from insiders and outsiders, and how they can be systematically identified and the threat they pose can be reduced.During this period I also worked on secure engineering from the perspective of delivering methods and techniques to embed security risk assessment and management into the development life cycle, more specifically into Requirements Engineering.Security decision making was also an interest I pursued in this period. Real Options thinking was used as a staging & learning framework to tune security investment decisions taking into account trade-offs involved with each alternative under evaluation.
Phd Candidate
During my Ph.D., I was part of the IPID project. I investigated how to assess and mitigate the risk of multi-step attacks in computer networks. My thesis proposed a preventive approach which used networks described on a Mobile Ambients-based formalism. I used Optimization techniques to find possible multi-step attacks.Along my Ph.D. I also studied security metrics and used the CVSS (Common Vulnerability Scoring System) to estimate impact and likelihood of risks based on vulnerabilities (i.e., CVEs) detected in open source and COTS (Commercial-Of-The-Shelf) components.
System Test Lead
Initially I was part of the Testing Department. I worked as a System Test Lead on a project outsourced from Xerox Corporation. The aim of the project was to test the software that controlled 61xx printers and report back to the project leaders in the US. Later I moved to Development Department, and performed activities as a Business Proposal Analyst and Software Development Lead of projects developed in-house.
System Test Lead
On-the-job training on performance, reliability and softwarefunctionalities testing for DocuPrint 75 printers.
