After retiring from serving as President of the State University of New York at Fredonia, I joined Academic Search as a Senior Consultant to assist institutions of higher education in their searches for new leadership. Wanting to support new and emerging leaders in higher education, I became a Senior Executive Coach with Academic Search in 2021. Since that time, I have been certified through the Center for Executive Coaching, the International Coaching Federation, Gallup CliftonStrengths, The Leadership Circle, and specialized workplace certifications through the University of South Florida. I bring each of these perspectives to my work with college and university searches, candidates, and coaching clients. I am an innovative, visionary, and collaborative senior administrator and executive coach, with more than 40 years of service as educator and leader in public higher education, with experience in accreditation, alumni relations, budgeting, community relations, economic development and partnerships, executive coaching, facilitation and mediation, facilities planning, faculty and staff placement and development, federal and state political advocacy, fundraising, human resources, labor management, leadership development, policy and curriculum development, public speaking, shared governance, strategic planning, and writing/editing. Once a first-generation college student, I am still inspired and transformed by opportunities to learn and clear pathways for others. Committed to compassionate rigor, inclusive excellence, and growth mindset as the foundations for student success, I approach academic leadership with a passion for all forms of education as a public good, access to opportunity as the essential promise of democracy, and the joy of discovery in an increasingly complex, diverse world. It remains a personal and professional joy for me to have any role in assisting others lead from their strengths and achieve their potential.
