As senior leader of RMI’s Electricity Program, developed and led program strategy and initiatives, established and managed annual $4 million programmatic budget, led business development and partnerships with power sector stakeholders, cultivated individual and foundation philanthropic support, and led project teams primarily focused on utility business model reform, pricing, valuation of distributed energy resources and clean energy utility business strategy.

Working with fellow senior leaders, built RMI’s Electricity Program into credible and impactful 15+ member team with higher profile, broader influence and deeper engagement across critical stakeholders, including regulators, policy makers, utilities, technology providers and customer segments. Highlights include:• Co-founded RMI's Electricity Innovation Lab (e-Lab), a multi-year collaborative network of over 1,500 electricity industry leaders to develop and test new solutions to enable greater adoption of distributed energy resources.• Co-founded e-Lab Accelerator, a four-day innovation bootcamp that invites teams working on high-impact projects at the electricity system’s distribution edge to accelerate their progress toward implementable solutions. To date, Accelerator has hosted 50 teams across 18 jurisdictions across North America and Europe.• Led $700,000 Department of Energy SunShot-funded project, Innovative Solar Business Models, which partnered with several utilities to pilot new solar business models that recognize and create value for multiple stakeholders. Authored and published final report, Bridges to New Solar Business Models.• Managed and coauthored several highly cited publications, including the Electricity chapter of Reinventing Fire; RMI’s contribution to America’s Power Plan, Distributed Energy Resources: Policy Implications of Decentralization; eLab reports, A Review of the Benefits and Costs of Distributed Solar PV and New Business Models for the Distribution Edge: The Transition from Value Chain to Value Constellation; and a collaboration with PG&E, Net Energy Metering, Zero Net Energy & the Distributed Energy Resource Future: Adapting Electric Utility Business Models for the 21st Century.

Developed clean energy or carbon reduction strategies for a variety of clients including several Fortune 500 companies, electric utilities and renewable energy developers. Highlights include:• Managed analysis for technical and economic potential of renewable energy on behalf of Duke Energy as part of utility’s internal CEO-sponsored carbon strategy.• Conducted modeling and analysis to evaluate energy efficiency potential for 34 publicly-owned utilities in California to meet California’s Global Warming Solutions Act (AB 32).• Managed small multidisciplinary team to create clean energy strategy, including efficiency, demand response, onsite and offsite renewable energy, for MGM Mirage’s Las Vegas properties.

Conducted research, analysis and quantitative modeling on multiple energy topics, including fuel price volatility, energy commodities markets, and the financial valuation of energy efficiency and renewable energy.

• Analyzed financial and environmental performance data on S&P 1500 companies for investment screening. Served as lead contact between IRRC and 200 S&P 500 companies.• Managed firm’s investment research on the nuclear power industry. • Lead author, Corporate Environmental Performance of the S&P 1500.

• Briefed LCV board chair on environmental policy and political developments. • Drafted talking points and maintained chair’s related written correspondence. • Served as conduit between LCV staff and board of directors.
