Individual Project (4 months): ‘Modelling of the delamination growth around hole in Carbon Fibre / epoxy laminates used in Aircraft Structures’. Aim: Creating a model with MSC Marc Mentat to show delamination around a hole in a plate in order to update the tolerances currently used; Understanding how the material reacts around a hole. Content: Literature review and modelling (methodology, validation of the methodology and application to the project).

Student Placement: Thermal Management of electronics- Responsible for the first part of a Core Research Project of 1,5 year- Set up of non-contact temperature measurements for electronic devices- Design and manufacture of a new test vehicle and a wind tunnel- Building of a heat transfer analysis method- Characterization of new materials and new thermal management structure.
