Master's of Philosophy on personal narrative and the politics of identity in video game design. Drawing from research on how personal narrative is called on by game narratives, I explicate the qualities of game design that motivate the desire to play, and how those qualities can be manipulated to target certain groups of players. I draw parallels between how people identify with the game narrative and the broader community of players, concluding that these factors balance with game play, game technology and other development choices to shape the game market.

Worked for the Department of Philosophy under the direction of the Chair and Administrator. Liaised between CMS providers, graphic designers and department stakeholders to develop the website, poster, and newsletter using a collaborative iterative design process as part of the department's efforts to update its visual identity. Responsibilities ranged from writing and editing content, developing the website wireframe and implementing it using Sitecore, developing newsletter design and implementing it in Microsoft Publisher, working with designers to communicate a consistent identity across different mediums, and creatively mediating the interests of content creators and the restrictions of time, budget and technology.
