My main tasks are harvesting flowers and conducting crop maintenance, besides that I assist with other tasks including crop replacementDuring my secondary school education and BSc/MSc in Wageningen I worked here on Saturdays and during holidays. Currently I work here part-time while I orient myself on the labour market.

During a 6-month internship at Genetwister Technologies I was responsible for an innovative R&D project about targeted long-read sequencing with Oxford Nanopore Technologies.My tasks included:- Experimental design and planning- Contributing to team meetings- Maintaining plant material in the climate cabinet- Laboratory work: DNA isolation, purification and size selection- Nanopore sequencing: library preparation, QC and sequencing- Data analysis: data QC, comparison with reference genome and visualization using Python

I did my MSc thesis under guidance of dr. Ruud Wilbers at the Laboratory of Nematology (WUR).The MSc thesis project was about producing a parasite protein in plants for producing a vaccine against that same parasite. I studied native plant enzymes that were supposedly degrading the protein when it was produced in the plant. Tasks & responsibilities included:- Experimental design and planning (in collaboration with supervisor and also independent)- Lab work: molecular cloning, bacterial transformation and agroinfiltration- Plant tissue culture: testing different treatments for shoot induction in microcalli and maintaining the calli- Bioinformatic work: genetic inventory and Sanger sequencing data analysis- Scientific communication: writing research proposal and final report, presenting interim updates and final presentation

I did my BSc thesis at the Laboratory of Plant Physiology (WUR) under supervision of Mara Meisenburg (PhD candidate) and dr. Iris KappersIn the project 'LEDS make it resilient' researchers are studying the response of plants to light spectrum (colors & intensity) on their ability to defend against insect pests.I contributed to this project by setting up a small scale trial with Arabidopsis thaliana plants that were grown under different light conditions (normal light and shade) in combination with infestation by spider mites.Tasks & responsibilities:- Planning and executing experiments that were designed by supervisor- Sowing and maintaining plants for the experiment- Lab work: preparing samples for High Performance Liquid Chromatography- Data collection and analysis: counting spider mite eggs, analysing HPLC peak diagrams and statistical analysis with SPSS
