Design Engineer Ii - Mechanical
I am a Mechanical Design Engineer in the Tooling & Volumes group at ASML San Diego. I am involved in the design, analysis, release and testing of service tool and tooling components used to service modules of the NXE and EXE EUV Sources. - Lead Design Engineer for the EXE:5000 Source Scrubber (SCR) Service Tool: Interfaced with tooling architect and cross-sector teams like Module, Safety and lead the design of a Lifting tool to install/uninstall the SCR module. Participated in multiple FMEA, safety and design reviews- Lead Design Engineer for the S3-MV Source Droplet Generator Assembly (DGA) Hot Swap Tool: Led the design, release and testing of a tool to service a hot DGA from the source vessel. The tool was successfully tested in the field and is now in High Volume Manufacturing (HVM) status- Designed and implemented improvements for Inline Refill (IR) Service Tools for the S3-MV Source- Developed extensive knowledge about ASML Generic Standards, GD&T, fits and tolerances, Design for Manufacturability (DFM)- Developed awareness about competencies like Lifting, Bolt, Volume Management, Standardization, Packaging
Mechanical Engineer
Graduate Research Associate
In collaboration with Ford Motor Company, I led the effort in developing a computational model to predict the freeze/thaw behavior of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (or AdBlue®) in the aftertreatment systems of diesel vehicles.- Performed Computational Fluid Dynamic/Heat Transfer (CFD/CHT) studies to investigate the capabilities of the in-built physical models of the commercial CFD code ANSYS-Fluent pertaining to freezing/thawing.- Implemented User-Defined Functions (UDFs) in ANSYS-Fluent to develop new numerical solution strategies, customize material properties, automate solution procedure and enhance postprocessing.- Developed a novel, efficient model for freeze/thaw using UDFs and demonstrated reduction in wall-clock (CPU) times from 10 months to just 3-6 days.- Performed validation studies of proposed model using multiple tank designs and achieved errors within 10% for all cases.- Developed standard procedure in ANSYS to analyze freeze/thaw behavior in AdBlue® tanks in exhaust aftertreatment systems.
Graduate Teaching Associate
I was a Graduate Teaching Associate for a senior undergraduate course titled "Mechanical Engineering Capstone Laboratory."- Led over 40 senior undergraduate students through challenging thermal and mechanical system concepts.- Utilized experimental and computational methods to stimulate a deep problem-solving capability and develop an interactive technical learning environment.
Undergraduate Research Assistant
As an undergraduate researcher, I worked on the material modeling of laminated composites for their efficient and automatic Finite Element Analysis (FEA). - Assessed and studied the mechanics of laminated composites and relevant numerical solution techniques.- Implemented new numerical models derived from higher-order lamination theories to assess viability in a meshfree FEA system.- Presented a new 3D analysis framework for using virtual material models during FEA of complex laminate structures, resulting in reduced preprocessing time and setup.- Performed numerical testing of virtual material models to analyze benchmark composite structures and achieved results within 5% of elasticity solutions.
Summer Design Engineering Intern
- Assisted in designing and drafting a piping system for reclaimed water for the city of Beaumont. - Drafted plots, tracts and legal descriptions for the Riverside County of California. - Assisted in the troubleshooting of pump station malfunctions, telemetry and other streamlining of unit processes at the Wastewater treatment plant at Beaumont, CA. - Prepared reports and assisted in graphic supports for the waste water treatment staff.
Summer Intern
- Researched and studied techniques of mass spectrometry, signal recovery and laser technologies.- Worked on waveform recovery of repetitive analog signals, using simulated signals with a pulse generator. - Acquired the Time-Of-Flight Mass spectrum of photo-ions and two photon wavelength spectrum of Rb using the Boxcar technique.
