I work as an Ops Engineer for ING Group Services as part of the Asset and Liability Management Tribe (ALM). ALM provides me with a dynamic workplace; a lot of international colleagues to work and grab a coffee with; and every year more interesting projects to support.My daily activities consist of the following:- SOx coordination (preparing security controls for the next cycle; answering adhoc questions from testers and auditors; keeping up to date about the latest security changes within the organization and the tech field in general; onboarding colleagues on new/changed ways of working)- DORA compliancy coordination (preparing our applications to be compliant to the new DORA regulation)- ITSM coordination (managing incidents, changes, root cause analysis and data quality issues)- Onboarding new applications- Keeping security controls up to date- Infra optimalization (installations; versions upgrades; patches; vulnerability management; and improving existing configurations)- First and second line business support- Business alignments with developers, business analysts, operations engineers and higher management- Security monitoring of our systems and tooling (ELKaaS, SQL, Powershell, Cloud services)- Automation of tooling (technical side)- Onboarding new colleagues

The Calco Master Class starts with a training period of two months in which you will be prepared for your first steps in IT. This starts with a Crash Course of two weeks where all aspects of a DevOps team are discussed. Think of requirement analysis, programming & coding, testing, infrastructure and management. You will also earn the certificates Professional Scrummaster 1, Azure Fundamentals and SQL Foundation. After this you can choose from a number of Deep Dives to broaden your knowledge.I chose a Deep Dive Operations Management and Security. Not only does IT knowledge take center stage during the training period, but you also continuously work on your personal development. After this training period, you will be deployed at one of Calco's clients. You get a personal field manager and you are given support for your personal development.

I followed my internship at the National Security division. My team worked toward better civil and military relations in crisis situations, by reverificating the Dutch military capabilities. I worked together with teams from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice and Security; the National Police and the safety regions of the Netherlands (Veiligheidsregio's).My daily work consisted of organizing meetings and conferences for internal and external stakeholders; documenting meeting notes and improvement actions; and drawing up policy recommendations.
