About Vitor Mendes

Electrical Engineer graduated from CIMATEC University Center. I am part of the Robotics Department of CIMATEC as a Robotics Engineer Intern, working on the development of robotic solutions for industrial operational environments in the oil and gas industries since 2022. My responsibilities included developing control systems using machine learning, software engineering with ROS 2 and C++. I have been a member of IEEE for 4 years, during which I was part of the RAS (Robotics and Automation Society) CIMATEC student chapter, serving as president in 2022. In this role, I led the chapter in the development of technical projects for educational purposes, aimed at promoting robotics learning in the Salvador, Brazil community. In the Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), I received an honorable mention for my dedicated volunteer work and contributed to the chapter’s achievement of 2nd place in the technical chapter category at the 2021 Regional Success Awards R9. I am also developing an open-source package for ROS 2 for motion capture using point clouds (Point Cloud Motion Capture).Areas of interest: Robotics, Control Systems, Machine Learning, and Simulation (Gazebo and Isaac SIM).Let me know if you’d like further adjustments!

    As president, the main focus of management was to use the chapter as a tool to share robotics knowledge and empower a new generation of volunteers. In order to achieve this goal, a training program was created with a focus on tools and project development. As a result, a total of 25 people participated in this program, 2 publications were generated at SIINTEC VIII, one of which won the prize for best poster and the other became a workshop sponsored by the event. During the management, it was possible to count on awards such as: 1st and 2nd in the incentive to student initiatives of SENAI CIMATEC.
