I led the commissioning of a new Powder Coating and Liquid Painting plant, ensuring a smooth and incident-free start-up, while implementing comprehensive tracking systems for Leading and Lagging indicators in Safety, Environment, and Health to enable proactive measures for continuous improvement. Additionally, I introduced self-assessment programs in Electrical Safety, Fire Safety, and compliance with IS 14489, achieving 100% adherence and systematically assessing and enhancing the safety of all factory machines through the implementation of machine safety level and ranking guidelines, further driving improvements in workplace safety via safety Kaizens and fostering a culture of continuous safety enhancement, resulting in zero Lost Time Incidents (LTI) and active worker involvement in reporting near misses. Moreover, I conducted First Aid training for 40 employees in collaboration with St. John Ambulance, enhancing the emergency response capabilities of the workforce, and ensured zero non-conformity with regulatory compliances of factories, liaising with PCB for obtaining CTO-expansion for both factories, while spearheading projects focused on water and electricity conservation, as well as the reduction of hazardous waste generation, showcasing a commitment to environmental sustainability. Additionally, I ensured the proper operation of Sewage Treatment Plants (STP) and Effluent Treatment Plants (ETP) in accordance with standards, meeting all environmental parameters, and championed the integration of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, including Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) frameworks, to align business practices with global sustainability standards, fostering a culture of responsible corporate citizenship and transparent reporting.

Effectively managing health and safety operations across four factories in Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, I ensured compliance with statutory requirements and maintained strict adherence to regulations related to Factories, fostering a culture of compliance with the Inspectorate of Factories and Boilers. Implementing comprehensive improvements in plant safety, including proactive measures to mitigate risks and enhance standards, I conducted regular medical examinations for factory employees, focusing on preventive health measures. Spearheading First Aid and Fire Fighting training programs to address critical emergency response skills, I ensured robust safety measures such as electrical safety, machine guarding, and procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs), minimizing workplace hazards. Successfully conducting various safety audits to uphold and enhance health and safety standards, I achieved zero Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) for the last two years, demonstrating a commitment to workforce well-being. Collaborating with the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to obtain regular Consents to Operate (CTO), I ensured environmental compliance and facilitated the transition to ORANGE category for both factories, showcasing commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability. Additionally, I led the establishment of a new 70KLD Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), contributing to responsible wastewater management and environmental conservation.

Growth Path:Jan’09 – Sep’15: As Associate Manager – SafetySep’01 – Dec’08: As Senior Engineer – OperationsAchieving a notable milestone of zero Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate (LTIFR) throughout the construction of 72 coke ovens and a 30 MW project, overseeing a workforce exceeding 2000 contract personnel over 30 months, I successfully led the commissioning process of 72 coke ovens, resulting in the production of 2.8 million metric tons per annum (MTA) of coke, while overseeing the commissioning of a 30 MW Waste Heat Recovery Boiler Power Plant, effectively harnessing power from waste flue gases of the coke oven plant and blast gas from the Pig Iron Plant. As safety in-charge for critical areas including the Coal Handling Plant, Coal Unloading Jetty, and Coke plants, collectively producing 5.6 MTA of metallurgical coke, I also managed safety for the Waste Heat Recovery Power Plant generating 60 MW of power, ensuring seamless and accident-free operations across multifaceted projects. Spearheading safety measures for the Coal Handling Plant and directing safety protocols for the Coke plants, I played a pivotal role in optimizing safety and production outcomes, while formulating and implementing comprehensive safety strategies, fostering a culture of safety consciousness and compliance throughout diverse project areas, and implementing proactive safety measures and protocols, contributing to the overall success of the project and ensuring the well-being of the extensive workforce involved.
