About Vivek Shah

Positive, motivated and a passionate engineer with a master’s degree in Vehicle Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology. I have always been fascinated by cars and especially Formula 1 cars. It was seeing Michael Schumacher in F2004 which got me interested in race cars and Motorsports. Since, then it has always been a dream to work in Formula 1. It seemed an appropriate dream given my interest in cars to have a career in the Automotive / Motorsport Industry. Master’s degree in vehicle engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology with focus on race car aerodynamics, & CFD. Recognised for leading a team of 10 aerodynamics engineers for designing the highest downforce producing car in KTH FS history and developing a unique floor design which is not seen on any race car till date. Experience of working as a CFD consultant to develop aerodynamic solutions for the automotive & motorsport industry. Extensive knowledge in aerodynamic concept generation, developing CFD methodologies, wind tunnel/track testing, & cooling system design. 3 years’ experience of using CFD and CAD tools like Star CCM+, Ansys Fluent, Siemens NX, Catia V5, along with wind tunnel measurement tools, hot wire anemometry, PIV, pressure sensors etc, to develop aerodynamic components.Looking for opportunities in the automotive or motorsport industry as an aerodynamics engineer/ CFD Engineer.

The goal was to gain performance during cornering, hence the CFD model included a circular rotating domain with rotating wheels (MRF), possible to modify the toe, camber, and steer angle of the wheels to gain a thorough understanding of the changes to the flow due to the wheel. Conducted conjugate heat transfer and fluid flow calculations and analysis in Star CCM+ and improved thermal performance by 4% and reduced pressure loss by 6% from previous design. 5) Provided training and support to junior CFD engineers in the team for fluid flow calculations, external aerodynamic and conjugate heat transfer (CHT) CFD simulations by adopting best practices for external aerodynamic and CHT simulations. CHT CFD simulations were used to examine the temperature and optimise the flow to reduce pressure loss. 4) Instrumental in improving the diffuser performance by over 30% through a unique design for better airflow management infront of the rear wheels to control tire.5) Created a CFD methodology for optimising the design of sidepods and radiator (Porous Region) to improve cooling for the electric motors using design optimisation algorithms like DOE, True multi objective (pareto optimisation) in Star CCM+. The mass flow rate to the radiators improved by 35%. Along with that conducted physical tests to validate CFD data. 6) Part of the testing team to validate the CFD simulations with physical test (track testing) data.
