The Chartered Institute of Journalists, the oldest professional body for Journalists in the world, was formed in 1884 and is a representative voice of Media and Communications throughout the United Kingdom and Commonwealth. The Institute received the Royal Charter in 1890.The CIoJ is one of the original gatekeepers for the National Press Card (NPC), which is issued to its Full and Trainee members.The card is the UK’s only national Press card recognised by all sections of the media and by the police service. It is only issued to professionals directly involved newsgathering, They include journalists,photographers,TV cameramen, sound recordists and people who directly support them such as dispatch riders, engineers, and broadcast vehicle drivers. Foreign journalists based in the UK are also eligible.International Journalists of the CIoJ hold an International Press Card. The details of the card are forwarded timely to embassies and major international organisations who request press credentials before allowing reporters or media people access to events or press briefings.

Originally founded in 1921 to promote literature, today International PEN has 145 Centres in 104 countries across the globe. International PEN is a non-political organisation and has special consultative status at UNESCO and the United Nations.

Sydney PEN, an affiliate of PEN International, is an association of Australian writers and readers, publishers and human rights activists. We interpret the PEN Charter as being open to all those who support the work of writers, editors and translators. Asha for Education is a secular organization dedicated to change in India by focusing on basic education in the belief that education is a critical requisite for socio-economic change.In keeping with this focus, our volunteers are involved with and support projects that are secular and have an education-related component to them. The objectives of this group are:* To provide education to underprivileged children in India.* To encourage the formation of various local groups across the world to reach out to larger sections of the population.* To support and cooperate with persons and groups already engaged in similar activities.* To raise the required human and other resources to achieve the group objectives.* To provide opportunities to individuals living outside India who wish to participate in Asha activities in India.* To address, whenever possible, other issues affecting human life such as health care, environment, socio-economic aspects and women's issues.
