I thrive on growing companies and people. Results matter, but helping the team win together gives me greater joy. I do this by active listening, calling out the strategic implications of a given situation and our options, and steering the team to logical and emotionally sound decisions and actions.Having worked in large corporates and SMEs in leadership positions have taught me the following about myself:ON GROWING BUSINESSES: - Putting customer at the center of what we do naturally aligns everyone on the team.- I love a challenge. Anyone can drive a cruise ship in calm seas, but sailing a yacht in rough waters requires skills (and luck).- I have actively contributed to teams which tripled revenue in a year and created blockbuster products generating 100m+ USD sales/year.ON BEING STRATEGIC:- Knowing "what to play" and "how to play" is one thing, but strategy really needs to be examined through the lens of the external environment. The goal is to be better than the competition, not producing PBs.- Competitive intelligence is not a librarian function. It is to lay out objective facts and assumptions, and guide the team to have a sensible conversation littered with subjective beliefs about the future and competitors' moves.- Execution is everything. There's no prize for being "correct", there's pride in getting it "done".ON PEOPLE:- The definition of a company is a group of people. Think "thank you for your company!". Look after the people and they will look after the company.- Hard on the facts, soft on the people. Soft skills garner respect and actions.- Listen first. Good people bring good ideas. Listen. I love to play golf and snow sports.- Be inspired by the Arts. I'm learning to play the cello as an adult. - Give back. I teach Essential Life (soft) Skills to youth and young professionals.- I'm a global citizen.
