Vivian Kim is a Senior Supervising Producer for NBC News, working in editorial news coverage and talent development. In her 20+ years with NBC News, Vivian has covered national and international news across all NBC News platforms - NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, the Today Show, MSNBC, NBC News Now, and digital properties. Vivian coaches and mentors new talent in NBC's Correspondent Bootcamp. She focuses on tracking, scripting, on-air presence, and editorial skills while navigating the network's numerous platforms. She also coaches them in the field and provides feedback for them and their managers. She also trains and manages producers for field and show assignments. Vivian helps coordinate breaking news coverage and large scale news events. She most recently lead NBC News teams on the ground covering the conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. She has also covered the passing of Queen Elizabeth, the rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula, the Gabby Giffords shooting in Tucson, the Orlando Night Club Shooting, wildfires, floods, and natural disasters.Since joining NBC in 2002, she has also contributed to coverage of stories from the Space Shuttle Columbia disaster to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan from the National News desk in New York. In addition to managing field teams on breaking stories, Vivian has also supervised bureau and show coverage in Los Angeles, New York, and London. Vivian was nominated for News Emmys for her work in Orlando, the Heroin epidemic, and the shootings in San Bernardino, California and Las Vegas. She was also part of the team who earned a SPJ Award for their coverage of the Las Vegas Shooting.In addition to News, Vivian has covered 9 Olympic games with NBC Sports. She manages Sportsdesk - a team both in the host country and US Headquarters - responsible for spot news, live event coverage, and features throughout the games. Vivian has earned three Sports Emmys for Beijing 2008, London 2012, and Beijing 2022.Vivian received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Boston University and Master of Divinity from Regent College in Vancouver, BC. Vivian is a native Californian and is based in Los Angeles.
