One City operates both an independent preschool and public charter school, which together serve students age 2 through grade 7 from a diverse cross-section of families in South Madison. One City is Wisconsin’s only year-round, extended-day public school and is dedicated to seeding a new model of public education that prepares our students for success in high school and beyond. I cofounded One City as a preschool in 2014 and returned full-time in 2018 as we opened our public charter elementary school.I am responsible for non-instructional aspects of One City Schools, including budgeting, financial management, data collection and analysis, facilities and compliance/reporting to government agencies. Other hats worn include substitute teacher, cook, facilities maintenance and whatever else the day might demand.Later, in 2021, I led One City's efforts to secure $19.5 million of New Market Tax Credit financing for the acquisition and renovation of our future K-12 school facility. This included sourcing/pitching investor banks, structuring additional holding and lending entities adjacent to One City Schools, and negotiating investment and allocation terms. My experience in this role also involves project management of our legal, accounting, architectural and construction teams, aligning them to the tight constraints needed to successfully close the NMTC transaction and meet the operating needs of One City Schools.

I co-founded One City as a preschool in 2014. I would later return full-time in 2018 to lead its vertical expansion into a public charter school.
