At Decision Point, I had an eventful two years in which I transformed the finance function, successfully took care of an overseas acquisition, helped the founder negotiate for a better deal for its own acquisition, ensured timely completion of CPs for M&A, and implemented IndAS and systems for complex multi-currency consolidation without any external support.I took charge as CFO when the company had a very weak O2C and P2P processes, going through cash flow issues because of huge growth, no process for month-end closures, struggling to provide data to due diligence agencies and no team members experienced or trained in MIS, account closures or consolidation. I began my task immediately focusing on improving the systems, process and training the team members. Within a short span, we started preparing periodic reports, gained visibility and control on cashflows and began closing the accounts on periodic basis.As I wind up my two-years stint, I have implemented IndAS from scratch, developed a trained set of team members and a system to handle complex account closure and consolidation procedures involving four different group entities reporting in four different currencies and getting it also closed and reviewed within 30 days from quarter end.Most importantly, all these transformations were brought internally without using the services of any consultants and with very little additional costs and while I was also working on two M&A transactions.When the company was getting acquired, I negotiated on behalf of the founder for a better financial deal, and also negotiated the terms in the share purchase agreement to get relatively favourable terms. I also ensured timely completion of the CPs to ensure closure of the deal.We also worked on a crossborder acquisition of an associated company where I negotiated the deal terms with the lawyers and took care of RBI compliances.Having completed the mission I signed up for, I bid adieu to the company.
