I managed the LabVIEW FPGA teams in Romania (http://www.ni.com/labview/fpga/). The NI LabVIEW FPGA Module extends the LabVIEW graphical development platform to target FPGAs on NI reconfigurable I/O (RIO) hardware. LabVIEW FPGA provides a graphical programming approach that simplifies the task of writing hardware designs that can be used on FPGA's instead of writing HDL code. The teams I managed were working on all areas of LabVIEW FPGA from the editor, the compiler to digital design. My role was to make sure people grow professionally by driving promotions, offer guidance and conducting performance reviews as well as overseeing the activity of the project managers and helping them grow in their role. I worked closely with the branch manager and initiated or participated to branch level initiatives such as employee compensation, relocation to a better office space, upgrading the work environment or establishing and improving processes.

Part of the time acted as project manager, tech lead with hands-on coding duties while at other times acted exclusively as a project manager, handling more projects at a time:• Lead the development team for the 3D visualization of architectural models component of a leading product in the construction industry• Initiated and lead the Mobile Development Program as a coherent way of managing the resources for mobile development projects• Simultaneously managed several projects and clients with a total of 10+ team members working on requirements analysis, effort estimation, software development and quality control• Interviewed, selected and trained some of the best professionals in the company and gave project management trainings• Defined and reviewed the standard company processes as member of the Process Improvement Group, focusing on project management processes such as project planning, project monitoring and control• Main tools: Microsoft Project, JIRA, Visio, TestTrack, Inkscape, Mercurial, Perforce, C++ (STL), C# (.NET Framework 2 - 3.5), Python, Java, HOOPS, OpenSceneGraph, OpenGL, Versant DB, UML, Design Patterns, Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, iOS

Started a micro-ISV (one-man-shop) to build business software for the car leasing industry:• Designed and developed a complete software package for Romanian leasing companies with features such as contract management, invoicing, sales, etc• Managed the company administratively, handling suppliers management, invoicing, etc• Developed and ran marketing campaigns, designed marketing materials, gathered distribution lists• Handled sales from leads, negotiations to closing contracts and account management• Main tools: Visual Basic 6.0, SQL Server, COM, Win32 API, MAPI, HTML, Corel Draw

Lead the implementation team of the industry specific module of an ERP package aimed at the Dutch tour operators:• Reviewed functional specs, provided feedback to the product designers and explained the requirements to the team when needed• Created, monitored and controlled development schedules by breaking down work into manageable tasks and balancing load throughout the team• Coached and offered technical guidance to the implementation team, suggesting directions for personal development• Conducted code reviews and reacted to exiting code practices by proposing new development practices to improve upon the exiting ones• Organized testing to ensure proper quality control• Analyzed requirements, coded and tested along with the rest of the team• Main tools: Progress ABL, Roundtable, Win32 API, COM
