Working at the agency gives me a nice opportunity to try and refine different approaches and check how they work for various projects. At appsoluts I'm supporting and modernizing existing apps and building the new ones for various clients. The UI layer is built with SwiftUI.

My collaboration with Synthux Academy started from the work on Spotykach - slicer/looper based on Daisy Seed and Simple Designer board. I worked on technical part of the instrument while Roey, founder of Synthux Academy, made stunning visual design for it. The code is written in C++ structured in classes providing good separation of concerns. We presented the result at Superbooth in 2023. After that I participated in concept development of Simple Touch - a new development platform and written several instruments for it including looper, drum machine, subtractive synth, slicer, effect processor and others. Here I've taken a step aside from the native app development and worked on Vue.js based web app. The app is also available on mobile wrapped in a thin native layer so I had a chance to see how "non-native" development works. I was lucky to join Familynet at the beginning of modernizing the Looping app which already served well but had certain room for improvement. We've modularized and refined the code and significantly increased stability of the app, added new features and added subscription model. I liked a lot that being app devs we still had influence on the backend (and vice versa) so we could overview and develop the system as a whole.

In Riga I was developing video on demand iOS application. It was my first full time iOS project so nothing fancy from my side, mostly learning. However there were couple of interesting things to it. For instance the middle layer in node.js that I've made to massage some API responses and prepare the data before consuming by the app. The reason was that original response was XML and contained lots of the data irrelevant for the app. The middle layer was gathering data once a day and putting the resulting JSON to Redis. As the result the loading times and traffic were reduced which eventually made an app more snappy.
