Role entailed coordinating user access as well as providing training and technical assistance. In addition, assisted with planning, implementing, and evaluating the Public Health Law Fellowship, included mentoring fellows. Member of legal epidemiology project team, analyzed Buprenorphine prescribing legislation and prescription rates during COVID-19. Candidate of CDC's High Potential Program (2023 cohort), a competitive 6-month leadership training program for early career professionals. PHAP is a competitive two-year fellowship managed by CDC's National Center for STLT Public Health Infrastructure and Workforce. Fellows are placed in the field at partner host sites where they gain on-the-job experience while completing a comprehensive training curriculum. I was assigned to the Minnesota Department of Health's (MDH) Center for Health Equity (CHE), and my work addressed health equity/access to care. I deployed to Minnesota's COVID-19 response effort through the MDH COVID-19 Community Coordinators (CCC) initiative from October 2020-March 2021. Among various assignments, I served as lead COVID-19 test site staffing coordinator for the state-run test sites hosted at National Guard armories throughout MN. From April-July 2021, I supported and provided some leadership to the State Action Team, a subcommittee of the One Minnesota Council focused on eradicating racism, alongside the MN Governor's Office of Equity and Inclusion. I assisted the Health Equity and Advisory Leadership (HEAL) Council until October 2021. From October 2021-October 2022, I served as testing resource coordinator with the Tribal Healthcare COVID-19 Response Team and research/evaluation associate within the CHE. As needed, I assisted CHE with grant applications/reports/reviews and provided technical assistance (TA) to divisions throughout the agency and external partners, leading two TA projects with the MDH Suicide Prevention Unit.I served as Executive Co-Chair of the CDC PHAP Associate Council Journal Club from 2021-2022 and contributed three essays to the PHAP Associate Collective newspaper. Member of the following: Minnesota Suicide Prevention Taskforce, Mental Health and Wellbeing Committee; CDC National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) Tribal Workgroup; CDC PHAP Associate Council Tribal Workgroup; CDC PHAP Associate Collective (writer); CDC Young Professionals Network; Minnesota Public Health Association (MPHA); and American Public Health Association (APHA).

COVID-19 response deployment within the Tribal Support Section (TSS) of CDC's State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial (STLT) task force. Assigned to HHS Regions 6, 8, 9, and 10 as well as IHS Regions Navajo, Albuquerque, Nashville, Oklahoma City, Billings, Great Plains, Phoenix, California, Alaska, and Portland. Assisted all HHS/IHS regions as needed.In this role, I assisted with deployments, co-liaising one deployment, and facilitated meetings with deployers and/or Tribal, federal, and state partners. Named lead, I trained and mentored four new staff, standardized my training, and created a training walkthrough to guide staff through self-directed training. Revised/updated work flow documentation, scheduled meetings, and kept transcriptional notes of meetings attended.

Managed Catholic Charities Atlanta's agency warehouse, which entailed supervising the implementation of an inventory system and revising the process for documenting input/output of in-kind donations. Assisted with the daily operation and management of two program grants. Trained three (3) Department of Refugee Services (RS) AmeriCorps members in Refugee 101, trauma science/trauma-informed care, and volunteer coordination, which included creating/revising curriculum. Mentored one (1) MPH/MSW intern through a COVID-19 project that supplied 40 refugee clients with PPE. Supervised one (1) RS summer intern.

AmeriCorps VISTA is a federal national service program funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). VISTA is a stateside version of the Peace Corps intended to combat poverty. VISTA members make a one-year commitment to serve full-time providing indirect services to build capacity for host nonprofit or government organizations, thus strengthening their host site organization’s ability to provide direct services to the population(s) they serve. The project I participated in was part of Catholic Charities USA’s New Americans VISTA Project (CCNAVP).Catholic Charities Atlanta (CCA) is an affiliate of the Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA) national network. Through CCUSA, CCA received a three-year grant affording them the ability to host VISTAs who would serve their Department of Refugee Services clients in different ways every year throughout this grant cycle. They were awarded a one-year grant extension at the end of the three-year cycle. I was the fourth and final member to work on this project. Throughout my VISTA tenure, I had four main roles: education specialist, volunteer/intern coordinator, community outreach associate, and compliance officer. These roles entailed creating new and updating existing curriculum on refugee 101 and trauma science/trauma-informed care and training volunteers and staff; facilitating sexual violence prevention training; recruiting and coordinating Refugee Youth After School Program volunteers and interns; cultivating new and existing relationships with community partners; and streamlining department records to ensure compliance with accreditation and grant standards. Active member of the Campaign for Trauma-Informed Policy and Practice (CTIPP); Switchboard’s Monitoring and Evaluation Community of Practice; the Atlanta Refugee Youth Network (ARYN); CCUSA's Volunteer Management Network; and CCA's Program Quality Improvement, Christmas Connections Program, and Volunteer Engagement Committees.

Taught four sections of Introduction to Sociology (1010) and one section of Sociology of Gender (3432) classes, each consisting of up to 100 students. Duties included preparing PowerPoint presentations and delivering lectures; instructing SPSS statistical analysis laboratory sessions; planning, evaluating, and revising curricula, course content, course materials, and methods of instruction; compiling, administering, and grading examinations; and creating directives for and grading focused research papers and proposals. During this time, I maintained regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students. I conducted and presented collaborative mixed methods research on collegiate teaching and learning at a professional meeting as well as presented my MA thesis research to an undergraduate Methods of Social Research class.

Research responsibilities included creating annotated bibliographies, writing systematic literature reviews, coding qualitative data, interpreting the results of multiple data types (i.e., qualitative and quantitative), recruiting research participants, conducting interviews, and transcribing interviews I collected. Presented research findings from both personal and group projects at four professional conferences and co-authored one publication. Teaching responsibilities included presiding over online courses, instructing SPSS laboratory sessions, guest lecturing in several undergraduate sociological classes, proctoring tests, grading assignments, and tutoring undergraduate students. Additionally, streamlined student records for the Department of Sociology undergraduate advisor, and served as Administrative Assistant of Alpha Kappa Delta (AKD), Gamma Chapter for the duration of MA candidacy.
