Vasileios (Vassilis) Malafouris is a partner and a member of the Board of Directors of FP Asset Management AG, member of the Swiss Association of Asset Managers (VSV-ASG) based in Zug, Switzerland. He has contributed to the business development of the company by holding a key role over the last years during which the assets under management not related to investment performance, grew by approximately 20% p.a. He currently coordinates the business expansion of the firm outside Switzerland. His private banking experience is associated with operations in the booking centers of Switzerland, Singapore, and Hong Kong. As the Chief Investment Officer of the company, he has designed and developed the asset allocation framework which is the basis of the investment process. He heads the investment committee and he is mainly responsible for investment strategy and tactical asset allocation decisions. Vassilis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Piraeus and a MSc from the School of Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences, National Technical University of Athens. In July, 2014 he defended his Ph.D. thesis "Industry Rotation in Equity Markets" in the Dept. of Banking and Financial Management, University of Piraeus and graduated with a Ph.D. in Financial Economics. His research resulted in a collection of working papers on Asset Pricing and Asset Allocation. His undergraduate and graduate studies have helped him develop a diversified set of skills covering a wide array of subjects from I.F.R.S. to Partial Differential Equations. He is actively engaged in lifelong learning, continuing the pursuit of knowledge in fields outside his formal education such as Scientific Computing, History, and Critical Thinking.
