Quality Control Engineer
CurrentCurrently working on federal construction projects for client General Services Administration (GSA) including two 100 million plus projects – “Renovation of GSA offices for FBI, US Army Corps & HHS” and “Broadway plaza reconstruction & roof repair”. Job responsibilities include: Develop and maintain a quality control (QC) plan, create drawings and forms to track findings, and supervise ongoing construction work. Assist engineering and project management personnel with the development of project planning to ensure compliance with all regulations, codes, safety, project specifications, and division QA/QC procedures/plans. Monitor the progress and effectiveness of the project quality management system. Recommend and implement improvements when required.Review and maintenance of all project documentation to ensure that all activities are completed in compliance with all regulations, codes, safety, project specifications, and division QA/QC procedures/plans.Evaluate, document, and track noncompliance issues/trends on projects and assist in the modification of plans and procedures to reduce such issues with minimal effect on project efficiency.Analyze blueprints and other contract documents and develop detailed shop drawings & and associated literature submissions at different levels of construction (conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction documents).Prepare quantity take-offs and estimates costs of materials, labor, and use of equipment required to fulfill all provisions of the contract.Assist Senior Project Manager in managing the project’s entire subcontracting and trade buyout process including overall team approach, scope development, scope review meetings, final negotiations of pricing and awards, and preparation of subcontract/purchase order agreements.
