About Melanie Voevodin
Experienced Project Manager (Marketing & Sales) with more than 7 years as General Manager of HIGHLUX. I would describe myself as a focussed, loyal and hard working employee, with an enduring bravery able to achieve outputs in complex and uncertain environments. HIGHLUX is a small Australian Solar Lighting company with an on-site research and development arm. Operating since 2012, HIGHLUX is on track to capitalise on it's 12 years of operation to now set expectations on public solar lighting standards for 2024 through practice-generated results. My background is in public health (research, policy & practice) with qualifications in dietetics (1998), public management (2003), and health economics (2005).
Listed skills include Health Promotion, Public Health, Scientific Writing, Epidemiology, and 16 others.

General Manager
CurrentSessional Tutor
CurrentTutorial facilitator in "Ethics" in the MBBS program [all year levels, 1 through 4].
Sessional Tutor
Tutorial facilitator and content writer to second year [of four years] nutrition and dietetic students. The subject is in first semester called Integrating Evidence to Practice (IEP). The subject could be called "Translational Research" because it teaches the practice of critical analysis for translation to the "patient in front of you". What does this systematic review and meta-analysis mean for this person in front of me, how do I explain it to them in a meaningful way, and how confident am I the information is robust and trustworthy? Critical analysis, and its output, translating research, is difficult to do, and, by default, difficult to teach. The only way students (and professionals) can be good translators is by practicing in a protected and encouraging environment - confidence in your own critique is key. It takes practice to read, interpret, understand and translate - and the more we have students present "what they think is happening in the paper" and then be able to write a critical review....the greater their professional contribution will be. My teaching in this subject is supported by Sue Shepherd and Audrey Tierney at La Trobe.
