In January 2016, following the launch of the transform19 plan, I partnered with McKinsey to establish an internal design and user experience capability at UniCredit. Initially, this capability was based solely on external consultants and aimed to redesign banking products and optimize execution, which involved rewriting many internal and customer-facing applications.For two years, I led the agile design team daily, fostering a deep understanding within the company of the design's role and its business value in enhancing customer experience across numerous IT projects. Concurrently, I worked closely with the procurement office to optimize supplier costs, define tender documents, evaluate suppliers, and restructure workflows to improve efficiency while maintaining delivery standards.After proving the value of User Experience (UX) with external teams, I seized the opportunity to build an internal design team within UniCredit's IT department. I faced the challenge of educating IT professionals, who had previously worked without designers, on the importance of UX design for both graphical interfaces and service design. Additionally, I successfully integrated designers from the market into the IT environment. This initiative led to significant success, with high satisfaction from both business and IT sides, growing the team from 3 to 11 members and establishing the design specialty within the organization.I also spearheaded the transition from Adobe XD to Figma, advocating for the new platform's adoption and facilitating the migration of the design system library to this new SaaS, integrating the software solution into company processes.By early 2020, with the launch of the team23 plan, user and customer experience had become critical for UniCredit, and the role of design was increasingly recognized in new projects, yielding positive results.In recent years, I have taken on the role of Figma application expert and admin within UniCredit. In this capacity, I lead the team of UX and service designers responsible for the digital channels of the UniCredit Group on international projects.
