Commanding the Evaluation Squadron at AETE, overseeing flight testing of new and modified aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force. Leading a large and diverse team of test pilots, flight test engineers and flight test navigators; overseeing a wide range of test missions on new and modified military aircraft; managing risk; and ensuring the highest standards for flight test rigour, safety and discipline for the Royal Canadian Air Force.

National Defence Headquarters, Ottawa

Advancing Canadian defence relations with U.S. and Latin American partners. As Canadian Secretary of the Canada-US Military Cooperation Committee (MCC), coordinating strategic-level Army, Navy, and Air Force talks with US counterparts in Washington. Leading Canadian military review of treaty-level NORAD documents. Leading military cooperation and engagement planning with Latin America & Caribbean military partners.

Leading the Royal Canadian Air Force's fabled 412 "Falcon" Squadron, flying Canadair Challenger passenger jets for the Governor General of Canada, the Prime Minister of Canada, the Minister of National Defence and Chief of Defence Staff, and other VIPs. Flying specially-configured Challenger jets on global missions for the medical evacuation of wounded Canadian soldiers, sailors, airmen and airwomen.

Qualified Experimental Test Pilot and head of the Fixed-Wing Evaluation section. Leading a diverse team of multi-engine and fighter test pilots, flight test engineers and flight test navigators, managing risk, flying a wide variety of test missions on new and modified military aircraft, and setting the standards for flight test rigour for the Royal Canadian Air Force.

Coordinating a complex flying program involving primary, multi-engine and helicopter pilot training, aircraft maintenance, air traffic, and airfield services. Establishing and maintaining high standards in contracted pilot training for the Royal Canadian Air Force, through instructor check rides and student progress monitoring rides.

Global flying operations in support of humanitarian and peacekeeping missions, including the UN Military Observers Group India-Pakistan (UNMOGIP) and famine relief flights in Somalia. Gulf & Kuwait medal with Bar. Arctic Search & Rescue operations, including the "Boxtop 22" Hercules crash at Alert (see www.volstads.com/boxtop22 ).
