Teen Services Librarian
CurrentPerforms professional library work that includes: -Providing service to customers, including explaining library policies and procedures to customers, in person and over the telephone, and providing responses in accordance with departmental guidelines. Performing reference services to customers, including readers advisory and searches using the OPAC. -Promoting library services by helping customers locate book, materials, and other reference information. Designing bulletin boards and displays to promote the library. Tours of the library are given to classrooms to introduce children to the library.-Coordinating programming for the community, with a focus on Teen related programs. Included in these duties are planning, and organizing the program as well as publicity through social media, and creating flyers. . -Building and maintaining relationships with the community through various activities that include: attending outreach events to promote library services, attending community meetings like Sheriffs Advisory and Friends of the Library.-Supervising temporary and permanent full time staff by assigning and evaluating assignments. Feedback and assistance are provided when needed. Supervising circulation desk when needed, including speaking to customers about fines and forgiving fines when necessary, and setting meeting room appointments. -Performs office support by answering telephone calls, preparing time adjustments, and assisting part time staff with circulation issues. Provides assistance with audio visual services.-Preparing and retaining reports and documents, including monthly reports and outreach statistical information. -Attending training for professional development. -Actively works with Collection Development Dept. and manager to maintain the library collection.
