Retired police lieutenant (Auburn Police Department). During my time with the department, I had the opportunity to work patrol, investigations and SWAT. I also served as the administrative and operations commander. In my various roles as a lieutenant, I was responsible for the Patrol Division, Administrative Support, reserve program, volunteer and intern program, policy review, crime statistics, budgetary items, special events, Records Division, Criminal Investigations Division (CID), Communication Center, Animal Control, Property & Evidence Unit, CSOs and CEOs, Community Action Team (CAT), operational planning, special projects, fleet management, and public information/social media. I was responsible for resolving work problems presented by subordinates. I recommended or implemented ways to improve production or the quality of work in a division. I developed performance standards and evaluated the performance of subordinates while communicating effectively with administrative support staff and other outside agencies at the local, State and Federal levels. I believe that evidence-based policing can have an impact on crime reduction and that community-oriented policing is a key entity in crime reduction as well as the ability to solve crime. Law enforcement needs the community connection and collaboration to provide a high level of police services. I am a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Specialist. Prior to my career in law enforcement, I worked in the private sector for a major computer company. Before my work in the private sector, I served in the United States Air Force. I enjoy weight training, running, bicycling, yoga, snow shoeing and more. I like to visit the mountains, lakes and the ocean and I enjoy time with my family and friends. I am currently interested in teaching, specifically at the college level as a professor or adjunct professor, but I am open to other opportunities should they arise. In August 2022, I completed the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer program and a CPR certification. I look forward to providing support in this area as well as the potential opportunity to teach at the college level. I am currently a certified personal trainer at In-Shape Family Fitness and on the Board of Directors for the Placer Justice Foundation serving as the board chair.
