Mobilization for Justice offers free legal assistance to low-income New Yorkers throughout New York City to resolve legal problems in the areas of housing; foreclosure; civil, disability and aging rights; bankruptcy, tax, consumer, employment, government benefits, immigration, and kinship care. Through these services we prevent homelessness, help seniors and people with disabilities live independently, stabilize families, maintain and increase income, and address racial disparities.

The City University of New York Law Review publishes work authored by cutting-edge social justice scholars and public interest practitioners. We strive to provide a forum for community advocates, organizers, and allies, to influence and radicalize legal practice. These aims are motivated by the Law Review’s larger social justice vision: to address the consequences of structural oppression, and to challenge these structures themselves.

The Law Reform Unit builds upon the needs of individual clients to effect systemic changes through class actions, affirmative litigation, and advocacy that benefits large numbers of clients with similar legal problems. The unit conducts impact litigation and advocates for legislative and regulatory reform on behalf of New Yorkers in need on a host of civil legal issues, including benefits, immigration, health law, homelessness, and employment.

We facilitate social change and the empowerment of youth based on their current needs within our community and society at large.

Rock Camp for Girls Montreal (RCGM) is a place where girls get together to learn and make music in the name of empowerment and community building. RCGM fosters the promotion of self-esteem, skill-building and critical thinking skills for girls through collaborative music composition and performance. We supplement the music component of RCGM with workshops based on feminist and anti-oppression frameworks that provide campers with a space for critical examination and empowerment.

Vivre Ensemble/Living Together is an innovative youth leadership program that brings together teens from the Arab, Jewish, and Muslim communities of Montreal to conceive of and produce a project that benefits the whole community. Under the guidance of a professional artist, the youth participants deconstruct stereotypes and build deeper understanding through visual arts and photography.

The International Community Action Network (ICAN), formerly the McGill Middle East Program (MMEP), is committed to the belief that social justice is the most reliable foundation for strong, healthy societies.Since 1997, joining with partners in each of Palestine, Jordan and Israel, ICAN has worked to establish eleven rights-based community practice centres in some of the most disadvantaged areas of these societies. The centres have implemented programs that engage, educate and empower the citizens most affected by conflict, war, economic hardship and uncertainty.
