Provides leadership and direction to the Technology, Business, Library Media and Information System programs to ensure that the goals of the District are reached. Works cooperatively with building Principals, other Directors, and Central Office Administration to create innovative technology based learning opportunities for students and provides oversight to teachers and staff in the full utilization of the Network to improve the instructional and management functions of the School District. This position includes the duties and responsibilities below and other non-essential functions as assigned by the Deputy Superintendent of Instruction and Assistant Superintendent of Business.

Provide leadership and direction to the Technology and Career Education Associate and promote the technological development of staff while creating innovative technology based learning opportunities for students. Assist administrators and provide oversight to teachers and staff in the full utilization of the network to improve the instructional and management functions of the School District.

• Chaired district's technology committee, responsible for researching and helping to set policy for district's integration of technology into curriculum, as well as drafting district's long-term technology plan. • Coordinated resources of technology department, consisting of two employees, over 600 network devices, connected by dedicated, gigabit Ethernet and fiber. • Drafted department budget of over $850,000 for review by Board of Education, allowing for salaries, contractual obligations, software and hardware, while using school funds ethically and frugally. • Worked closely with key staff members, to more quickly and effectively bring new services online, in lieu of dedicated or outsourced, professional development staff. • Maintained hardware and software inventory, to enable the technology department to work more efficiently, while also making sure the district is properly insured. • Researched all new software, hardware and service purchases in order to get the best quality products at reasonable prices, ensuring interoperability with existing systems. • Created a new district web-portal to quickly and efficiently disseminate important information to students, staff and the community. (www.sagharborschools.org) • Actively involved in school and community groups as an administrative liaison, helping to insure the public is involved and knowledgeable about the various uses of technology in district. • Responsible for interviewing and hiring prospective employees to fill openings. • Worked with administration and staff to help integrate technology into potential service learning projects and assist teachers and students to see it to fruition. • Managed and support district phone systems, including; District Nextel Account, Three Avaya Partner Systems (District, Elementary & MS-HS) and 2 inter-class systems. • Member of district's curriculum committee and Key Communicators

• Responsible for WAN, consisting of nearly 2000 network devices over 8 buildings, interconnected by dedicated gigabit fiber• Configuration, installation and administration of 5 Novell 3.x & 4.x servers, 6 Novell 5 servers, 14 Windows NT 4.0 servers, 1 Windows 2000 Web Server & 1 Windows 2003 Test Server• Configuration, installation and administration of over 50 Cisco switches, routers & firewall• Responsible for imaging 15 computer labs consisting of 25+ computers, as well as all district classrooms, consisting of at least 2 computers each• Perform network maintenance and upgrades as required• Assist teachers in utilizing software and hardware to conform to New York State standards• Provide technical assistance to varying groups of users, from students to district administrators• Manage 2 technicians, 4 student technicians and outsourced technicians as needed• Research, recommend and begin purchasing process on new software and hardware, dealing with both vendors & contractors• Responsible for redesign and daily maintenance of district hardware inventory.• Administrator of DeerParkSchools.Org Web & Mail Servers
