SumUp is a global financial technology company headquartered in the UK, supporting more than 4 million merchants in over 30 markets worldwide. As a Senior Engineering Manager in SumUp Global Bank, I led other Engineering Managers and Engineers in building and operating banking services, with a global and local (Brazil) scope, interacting with teams in Berlin/Germany, Sofia/Bulgaria, Vilnius/Lithuania, among other locations.• Engineering Manager of two squads: Mobile and Cards. Led up to five other Engineer Managers and their squads (including Transfers / Pix).• Launch of a new Global Cards Stack, adopted across markets. Successfully migrated to a new Debit and Credit Card in Brazil, using the new stack and integrating to a new Card processor. • Adoption of Event Driven Architecture to increase scalability and resiliency. Enhancement of incident management procedures and alerting/observability, reducing unavailability of critical systems in more than 50%.

Leading a cross-functional innovations team that builds cloud applications.• Services deployed to AWS and GCP. Responsible for defining the cloud support process, and the creation of cloud references to be followed by the team.• Definition of the CI/CD pipelines, with automated deploys and IaC scripts.• Defined and onboarded a Cloud Operations team, responsible for platform stability and proactive monitoring.• Launch of a video conferencing solution (browser based, using WebRTC). This solution was used during the COVID outbreak in India to provide remote consultations and won Frost & Sullivan’s Asia-Pacific 2021 Competitive Strategy Leadership Award in Healthcare, providing a straightforward experience with high-quality video using low bandwidth. Led the team trough US HIPAA compliance certification. Solution running on AWS.• Launch of a cloud data store application to consolidate customer contacts trough different channels in a single view, providing contextual information to agents in the contact center. Solution running on AWS.• Launch of a cloud solution that allows companies to run campaigns to reach out to customers using Avaya CPaaS (Communication Platform as a Service). Solution running on GCP.• Outstanding results in the last Avaya Employee Engagement Survey (2021), with team engagement index at 97%, with 10 out of 11 category results above average rating.

The main responsibilities as a Software Architect included:• Pre-sales (understanding customer needs to estimate effort and cost of projects; generating a ‘Software Solution Overview’ document, containing the scope considered, exclusions, assumptions, customer responsibilities, overall design, level of effort for design, development and QA, among others)• Software Requirements (discussing low level requirements with customers; generating a ‘Software Requirements Specification’ document containing functional and non-functional requirements)• Software Design (defining the overall solution design, including components, layers, micro-services, etc.; generating a ‘Software Design Document’ containing the system specification, frameworks and technologies to be used, sequence diagrams, API definitions, High Availability definitions, among others)• Software Development and QA Oversight (support the software development and quality assurance team through the project, providing technical consultancy; communication with customers to interactively show what is being developed, gather feedback and keep customer relationship; maintaining product backlog; interfacing with other Avaya teams) Main projects:• Designed an integration between contact centers and Salesforce, enabling agents to use a single web interface, while also automating screen-pops, click-to-call, and providing unified reporting.• Designed a solution to create detailed reports for the largest pharmacy in US, to conform with new regulations.• Designed a web application that enabled call center supervisors to manage agent assignments, without needing IT involvement, which drastically reduced the number of tickets

Contributions in several software development projects. Responsible for leading small software development teams, using Java and Avaya products and API’s. Web and back-end applications in most of the cases.• Created an integration between MS Lync and Avaya`s call center product so that users could contact agents directly from Lync, based on the XMPP protocol.• Designed and implemented JavaScript API interfaces (and the corresponding server side) to enable customers embed communication controls inside other systems, such as CRM`s.• Added geo-redundancy support to an in-memory data store solution, built with GigaSpaces. Telemetry and status tools created for performance tests were added the final product to help administrators monitor the system.• Created a tool to automatically parse logs and generate visual sequence diagrams and other metrics of a client-server application, with drastically reduced the time to analyze problems during a critical troubleshooting.

Contributions in several software development projects, mainly for Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA, with frequent interaction with teams based on USA, China and India. Development using JAVA for Desktop, Web technologies, Android and .NET. Some of the main projects were:• MOTODEV Studio for Android – Technical Leader / Product OwnerTechnical Leader and later Product Owner of a team using SCRUM (16 people, approximately). Responsible for gathering the requirements from the end customer (based in US) and converting them into User Stories. In charge of weekly technical and status meetings, which intended to demonstrate the new implemented features, take decisions on technical points and present the overall status of the planned releases (which were available to mobile developers all around the world). Speaker in ‘MOTODEV Summit’ international events and other Android events.• MOTODEV Studio for Android / MOTODEV Studio for WebUI - DeveloperDevelopment of Eclipse-based tools for creating mobile web applications. Use of JAVA (J2SE) to create Eclipse Plug-ins. Involved in requirements, design, development and testing.• Motorola Web Widgets (WebUI)Development of sample mobile applications using a Motorola Web Platform based on JavaScript, HTML e CSS. Use of AJAX and Web Services. The applications developed were made available to developers all around the world as examples of how to use the new platform to create fancy widgets. Some of them were also included in mobile phones sold in USA, Europe and Brazil. Participation in weekly technical and status meetings with Motorola teams in USA. Interaction with teams in China and India. Involved in requirements, design, development and testing.

Implemented different web sites for Johnson & Johnson USA, using JAVA Web (JSP, Struts) and Oracle Database (including data modeling and use of Hibernate). Created forms for customer sign-up and coupon generation. Developed a multi-threading system to run e-mail campaigns, which reduced the total time to process.

Work inside NIED (Nucleo de Informática Aplicada a Educação - Department of Informatics Applied to Education).Web development in an e-learning software project (TelEduc), which was used by many schools and universities in Brazil, including UNICAMP itself. Use of PHP and MySql database, working on the design and implementation of new features and modules.
