When I was 16 years-old I got my first job working at Tj Maxx to fulfill a requirement for my Fashion Marketing class that I was taking. When I graduated from High School, I moved up to Customer Service Manager as I explored My options for college. In 2013, I committed to attend Averett University in Danville Virginia, where I would major in Theatre, with a minor Musical Theatre and Psychology. I graduated in 2017, and began to explore job opportunities in the Theatre realm. I landed a position as Lead Theatre Teacher for Pine Camp Cultural Arts Center, where I learned that I loved to teach children the great escape that Theatre provides, as it did for me as a child. That position ended, and I ended up applying to be a behavioral technician for children experiencing behavioral issues due to diagnoses. I fell in love with the field, but then Covid-19 happened, and being In people's homes proved to become dangerous and uncertain. I became pregnant at the beginning of 2020, which was another factor that made me chose to step away from the field for a bit. I got my certification in Medical Coding and Billing so I could work from home as to protect my family. Once the world opened up, I applied to become an RBT again, and was promoted to Lead within 6 months of my employment. I remained in this position from January 2022, to April 2024, when I applied to become Scheduling Coordinator for 5 of our sites. I got the job, and now plan to enroll in a Masters Program to obtain my Masters in Drama Therapy, hoping to create a space of inclusion. A safe space for children who are navigating issues with social emotional reciprocity to come and learn how to maneuver through social relationships, provide a safe space for children to explore and grow freely and creatively, and create a space that is sensory friendly, so that children coming from all walks of life can experience life theatre in an inclusive way.
