The NGO is actively involved in about 80 projects of international cooperation for the development of countries in the south of the world. Leading a team of six accountants I am responsible for the overall running of the administration department, ensuring statutory compliance with Italian law. Dealing with every administrative, accounting and tax issue that the association may face, I periodically liaise with external auditors, drafting the year-end statutory accounts of the association. As team leader I coordinate the work of my colleagues, helping them to follow efficiently the administration, compliance and financial reporting of projects financed by institutional donors.

Working for a local accountancy and tax practice I was responsible for a portfolio of customers, for which I would deal with all the administration, accounting and tax requirements. Tracking and managing the different administrative deadlines I would ensure a correct customer’s bookkeeping and prepare the year-end statutory accounts with tax calculations. On my arrival I was tasked with learning all the modules of a new accounting software. After learning and mastering such software I transferred my knowledge to two employees that I trained.

The company manufactures and distributes coated papers with a turnover of € 180 million. Leading a Finance team of seven people I was entirely responsible for the Accounting, Controlling and Finance of the company, acting as the right hand of the Chief Executive Officer to whom I reported. I would deal with every aspect and deadline for the areas of administration, treasury, tax and performance measurement. To monitor and review the cash flow of the company, of my own initiative, I designed and created a weekly forecasting report. On year-end I would be responsible for the preparation and drafting of the year-end statutory accounts (based on latest Italian accounting standards), issuing calendars and procedures to all the group’s functional departments. I would liaise and meet regularly with the external auditors to ensure compliance of the company’s internal control. Regularly I would meet and maintain good relationships with the company’ seven banking institutions, for which I would monitor the observance of the loans’ covenants and conditions. When requesting new grants or bank loans I would prepare a detailed Business Plans together with up-to-date financial accounts.

My responsibility was that of creating and developing the entire Controlling & Performance Measurement function to support the Chief Executing Officer with the evaluation of the business’ financial results. Of my own initiative I developed a reporting system of ‘Analysis of Variances’ that explained the changes in the company’s profit between Budget and Actuals. Solely responsible for the preparation and drafting of the Budget, I increased its accuracy (by using the products’ bill of materials) and involved all the functional managers to provide a realistic expenditure forecast. To provide the Board with a summary of key figures I developed a one-page reporting Dashboard based on KPI (key performance indicators). Finally, to sustain investment projects I would evaluate their financial feasibility and ROI (return on investment).

As self-employed qualified accountant I set-up a tax and accountancy practice, dealing with the customers’ accounting and tax requirements: preparation of year-end statutory accounts and tax returns. I would help my customers obtaining loan capital by preparing their business plans that I would present to the banks.

This multinational company designs and manufactures furnishings products. Leading a Finance team of nine accountants I would report to the Chief Financial Officer, responsible for producing and analysing the company’s Income Statement. Monthly I would present to the Vice President an analytical review of the markets’ financial results. I shaped the Finance team by redefining roles with more focus on ‘business partnering’.

The multinational company manufactures and distributes generics drugs. I was responsible for developing, reporting and analysing the five years Financial Plan of a newly set-up Business Unit, reporting directly to its Vice President.

This global company manufactures well-known brands as Kleenex and Andrex. Leading a team of three accountants I was responsible for the Management Accounting & Reporting of the mill, reporting to the Mill Manager. I would analyse the mill’s production costs in all their components to identify cost-saving opportunities. Owner for Internal Control I was responsible for the evaluation of all the projects’ investments and for the preparation of the mill’s Budget.

I would prepare and draft the Income Statement for the brands Kleenex and Andrex, presenting it with an in-depth financial analysis to the Chief Executive Officer. In charge of reviewing the profitability of the main customer (Carrefour) I would support Marketing evaluating new product launches and promotional activities. While preparing the Country’s Budget I helped shaping a more profitable sales strategy.

Responsible for the accounting of all production costs I would support the Production Manager by assessing weekly operational results, providing a detailed ‘variance analysis’ of the costs and a review of the main KPIs (key performance indicators). Quarterly I would calculate the cost of the finished product for pricing purposes. By providing an in-depth review of manufacturing waste I contributed to its reduction.

I was responsible for the accounting and reporting of a European programme for which I would issue accounting guidelines and report monthly on the projects’ costs. I carried out a Post-Performance Evaluation of the Projects, presented to the Chief Financial Officer, revealing significantly lower impact than anticipated.

The company operates as one of the Big Five in global management consulting. Working for customers as FIAT and BENETTON I was responsible for delivering Performance Measurement reports and Cash Flow forecast on SAP R3 systems.
