In 2018, I took ownership of developing a team that provides dedicated infrastructure and operations support for all global trading systems. I scaled the team from 10 local employees to over 50 global employees with a capital and operating budget of $30M+. I currently lead a team of 5 direct reports and ensure the stability and performance of all aspects of investment systems infrastructure and operations that administer $7T AUM spanning multiple global locations. I set the strategic vision and implement innovative strategies to enhance operational efficiencies. I established a successful global DevOps operational model subsequently adopted across other Vanguard business/IT alignments.Highlights of my accomplishments include: Led a team to reduce mean time to repair incidents affecting investment systems by 85% over 3 years. Created an environment of automation, implemented monitoring tools, and shifted enterprise mindset from a reactive response to a proactive approach. Developed and drove a strategic plan to migrate all complex, global investment trading systems and applications to a multi-cloud environment in AWS (Cloud, Amazon Web Services) and Azure (Microsoft Cloud). Ensured the investment systems infrastructure, operations, and end user support for front, middle, and back-office investment stakeholders consistently achieved 99.95% system availability. Drove process efficiencies and implemented automation to reduce infrastructure defects by 81% over the last 12 months. Instilled a culture based on accountability and respect which transformed NPS from a negative score to 65 and employee engagement from below 50% to 93%.

In this role, I incorporated technology to the investment operation space on a global level. I streamlined investment management and IT governance functions enabling a cohesive model to optimize software development, infrastructure and vendor solutions for order management, portfolio management, and data management systems. I led a team of 4 senior managers and built up the organization to 70 members over tenure. I managed multiple teams (project management, testing, vendor management, portfolio management) and implemented a growth-focused strategy to build out investment systems. Additionally, I created an annual technology and vendor management budget.Highlights of my accomplishments include: Consolidated vendor relationships (50-70 vendor relationships at peak) under 1 governance team which saved over $10M in vendor costs in 1 year. Scaled technology and vendor budget from $45M to over $110M.  Directed the development of high-performing technology solutions and modernized Vanguard’s technology systems, infrastructures, applications, and processes to propel top-line growth from $2T to $4.3T. Created a 2-3 year technology engagement plan adjusting for rapid business growth. Presented plan to C-Suite leadership and gained approval by utilizing persuasion, negotiation, and influence skills to secure the required funding and stakeholder engagement.

Here, I served as a key member of the Senior Management leadership team and set the technical strategy across a 4-year $50M technology enablement program focused on revamping the 401(k) user and plan sponsor experience. I led a team of 10 senior managers and steered the program from concept to completion, scaling over 8 agile teams (100+ employees). I incorporated emerging technology to launch a transformational multi-channel user engagement digital platform.Highlights of my accomplishments include: Managed daily program operations and key stakeholder engagement while successfully coaching agile teams. Reduced development time by 75%, exceeded time, budget, and quality targets, and realized a 125% ROI. Broke down silos and united both the business and IT functions of the corporation by introducing the new agile methodology. Recipient of the company’s highest honor, the “Vanguard Award for Excellence” in 2009 as 1 of 16 out of 11k members.

As Senior Manager, I was recognized by the CIO for my executive leadership talent and selected to participate in a management rotation within the corporate Center for Excellence with Six Sigma certification track. I analyzed and identified IT systems and application development vulnerabilities in the underlying IT infrastructure and SDLC. I utilized Six Sigma approaches to realize efficiencies and improve processes.Highlights of my accomplishments include: Reduced mainframe MIPs usage by 30% and saved the company $9M per year by automating controls and making application changes. Earned the “Vanguard Process Improvement Project of the Year” award. Saved $7.2M annually by reducing software development defects by half (50%) within only 1 year.
