The committee reviews proposals submitted by Demokritos’ from the research ethics point of view and provides ethical approval to grant proposals submitted requesting funding.

Experience in Innovation Cluster Development, as Manager of the “Hellenic BioCluster”, the Cluster of Greek Biotech, Pharma and Healthcare technology companies for 2 years (2009-2010). R&D Project Management Trainer of R&D stakeholders from EU countries, New Accession States, and third countries like Western Balkan Countries, Russia and Former Russian Republics.

Establishment of the first National Reference Centre for Road Safety in Greece co-funded by the European Commission.Defined technical requirements of space and equipment, sourced and tested equipment (driving and accident simulators), developed novel educational equipment, examined European best practices, secured sponsored accommodation. Co-developed experiential training and education courses for various groups of vulnerable citizens on improving road safety behaviour. In the first three years of operation more than 85.000 citizens have been trained on road safety.

Medical Informatics and Bioinformatics Team. Involved in Medical Informatics and Bioinformatics research projects.Participated in e-Herophilus Project which comprised a national strategy to improve the Quality and Reliability of Telecardiology. The strategy document was accepted by Greek General Secretariat for Research and Technology but has not been implemented yet.

I have participated as Project Manager and Research Fellow in four successfully completed multinational and multidisciplinary Healthcare Informatics projects.Successfully coordinated “Open Virtual Environment for Research, Business and Public Resources (e-OpenDay)” project using a fraction of the foreseen resources and despite lack of project management experience.Bronze Medal was awarded to e-OpenDay Project in Brussels Eureka 2004, 53rd World Exhibition of Innovation, Research and New Technology.Several elements of e-OpenDay were adopted by the Royal Brompton and Harefiel’s NHS Trust and were implemented in the house developed hospital Intranet. Since there was no agreement by project partners for commercial exploitation, the e-OpenDay concept and business plan were published and released in the public domain and was materialised in a commercial service by third parties (www.eopenday.com).
