English Methods Course

At Mill River Union School I have taught 7th and 8th grade English, Reading, and Language Arts. I have also co-taught with an amazing special educator, supervised structured study halls, and coordinated tier II reading support. The past few years I have also taken on the role of an instructional leader as a member of the leadership team and various committees. My personal goals have focused on this new role and my self-directed professional development had included coursework toward my administrative endorsement.

At Audubon Vermont, I prepared and delivered comprehensive curriculum to kids ages 6-12 in a summer camp format. Each week had a theme that tied in to ecology and ornithology--from art to camping.

Burlington, Vt

Primarily, I worked as a one-on-one for a student with a behavior plan. In addition, I provided academic support and reteaching of material.

I provided team-building activities, hands-on science classes, and ecology hikes for students of visiting schools.

At East I taught 8th grade Language Arts for five years. During that period, I also taught 9th grade English I and a 9th grade Freshman Seminar in grammar, each for a year. The main focus of this position has been to actively engage students, to foster an environment where learning is valued, and to provide support so that all students can succeed. I have also served on the school improvement team, superintendent's advisory council, curriculum planning teams, and AIG planning teams in my role as a teacher.
