I am currently Mayor Malik Evans Advisor on Violence Prevention Programs. I was hand picked and appointed by Mayor Evans to direct all Violence Intervention efforts for the City of Rochester New York. I am the former Supervisor of Youth Intervention Specialists for the Pathways to Peace Youth Initiative in Rochester New York for 8 out of the 16 years of service. Previous to my current appointment, I have completed my 6th year as the Socio- Emotional Specialist Team Leader at the Center for Youth Services at Roberto Clemente School # 8 in the Rochester City School District. I have @ 30 years of experience working with those at high risk of behavioral issues, violence and gang involvement . During my career I have had the honor of leading various nationally recognized Best Practice Models for Youth intervention. Those efforts were coordinated by Nationally renowned Professor of Criminology and Director of the Center for Public Safety Initiatives Dr. John Klofas as well as Dr. David Kennedy who is the director of the Center for Crime Prevention and Control at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. In 2009, I began VTS Specialists to allow those serving youth at high risk for violence and gang involvement to gain a greater frame of reference and knowledge of this target population. Youth Intervention allows workers , parents and advocates to grow from the shared knowledge of Youth Intervention through Various Training opportunities. My Objectives : To share a wealth of experiences and practical knowledge in the field of Youth Intervention, Street Outreach and Gang Intervention. The ultimate goal is to assist those working on behalf of parenting or advocating on behalf of at risk youth to be abreast of the most current trends that most negatively affect this population. Through quality collaborations and shared knowledge we can put in place Strategic Interventions that can assist in changing those negative outcomes.Specialties: The ability to impart years of practical experience in Youth Violence Intervention and Prevention to those hoping to gain an greater understanding of those youth that they serve daily.
