Design and implement scalable big data architectures for the most strategic and largest customers on the AWS platform using a range of analytics services (S3, EMR, Redshift, Lake Formation, Athena, Glue, QuickSight) and 3rd party software (Apache Ranger, Databricks). Some significant projects I worked on:Implemented a data authorization solution for Spark, Hive, and EMRFS using Apache Ranger and Amazon EMR for one of the largest customer on AWS. The solution included deploying Apache Ranger on Kubernetes containers, a PostgreSQL database on Amazon RDS, and a Windows Active Directory on EC2. EMR clusters were configured to communicate with the Ranger Admin Server via plugins and certificates stored in AWS Secrets Manager.Successfully led a team of 20+ data architects and engineers in developing a cloud data platform for Amazon Advertising using AWS serverless analytics services and the Serverless Data Lake Framework. Provided technical guidance, managed the project using Scrum methodology, and worked with senior leadership to define project scope, prioritize tasks, plan resources, and mitigate risks. Mentored junior team members and contributed to the promotion of four team members. Achieved exceptional customer satisfaction, leading to the renewal of a professional services contract worth over $8 million. As a member of a highly skilled central data lake team, I contributed to the development, deployment, and management of a 22 PB data lake for a leading financial software company. The data lake was built on S3. EMR was used as the primary big data processing engine and Databricks was used as secondary. Ad hoc SQL queries were enabled using Athena. Redshift was used for data warehousing while Redshift Spectrum provided the capabilities to enable a Lake House architecture. In addition to these technologies, we also used Amazon SageMaker, AWS Service Catalog, Jira, Tidal, Jenkins, Terraform, Git, and GitHub Enterprise to manage and operate the data lake.
