Vítor Viegas was born in Portugal in 1976. He received his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST)/ Universidade Técnica de Lisboa (UTL) in 1999, followed by the MSc and PhD degrees in 2003 and 2012, respectively. He works as an Assistant Professor at the Portuguese Naval Academy, and as an Invited Adjunct Professor at the Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal. He is also affiliated to the Instituto de Telecomunicações (IT) as a Researcher. His research interests concern electronic instrumentation, measurement systems, and industrial informatics. In the last years he has been involved in research projects financed by the FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia) and H2020 FEDER, in the areas of biomedical engineering and environmental monitoring. His research record includes +50 articles in peer-reviewed international journals, 5 book chapters, and 1 national patent.
