I currently work for Civica, and from January 2024 I take on the role and challenges of being one of Two Technical Support Managers in the Local Government department.In my spare time, I am working on a portable, low-power networking testing appliance. Currently, based on a Raspberry Pi, it currently does a simple speed test. But my plans involve a whole sweet of network testing. I also help organize and run Raspberry Pi Jams in Ipswich and attend the Ipswich Makerspace. Previous RolesI have previously worked for Subex and supported various installations of Business Objects 5 and 6 as well as bespoke software on Oracle and Linux. Previous to working for Subex, I had been supporting RBS's Human Resources technical systems. This has ranged from PeopleSoft to Datastage and Compendia (a pensions application). During this role, I have had to write and amend Tivoli monitoring scripts on a UNIX platform that will notify if highly critical overnight batch jobs fail.Other responsibilities have included being the first point of call for the Compendia Pensions Application. This involved tasks like ensuring the Windows Servers are up and running with the services correctly configured. I have a fantastic ability to be thrown in the deep end and pick up new projects and new support roles in minimal timescales and love the challenge of something new and unknown. I am always happy to learn anything new in the IT sector.Specialties: SQL, Oracle, PuTTY, SSH
