The work involves writing drivers, automation of experimental procedures, data acquisition, cleaning and analysis, as well as image processing and visualisation of results, predominantly using Python and MatLab.𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹, 𝗚𝗨𝗜 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺Quantrol is a precise timing and control system Graphical User Interface (GUI) that allows programming FPGAs for experimental purposes, eliminating the necessity for coding expertise. The GUI features variables definition and use in mathematical expressions, saving, loading and visualisation of experimental sequences, and customizable parameter scanning.•Designed, and deployed first version of Quantrol that significantly saves time and enhaces efficiency in various tasks, by building it upon open-source Artiq repository.•Managed two PhD students in collaborative development of minor features for Quantrol updates by using GitHub.𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐋𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠Developed a novel method for frequency offset locking, enhancing lock stability by a factor of 10 and achieving a 100-fold improvement in cost efficiency compared to the state of the art, by tailoring frequency response of electronic filters.
