Serves as the Office Manager to CBM CARES® Prince George’s County. Overall management of a two-person office, that includes drafting and typing all office correspondence, receiving calls and supplying information about the program and/or forwarding calls to the Program Manager or Director. Responsible for providing administrative support to program staff; overseeing site management to ensure daily financial and reporting requirements are met, recruitment of volunteer mentors, facilitating and teaching mentor training workshops to program participants; coordinating all procurement activity, and interfacing with the National Office to maintain project and site operations. Development of flyers, announcements, press releases and promotional items about the program, researching and developing contacts in the community for the purpose of forming partnerships to recruit mentors and to build the CARES mentoring program in the local community. Researched and wrote all training manuals, for the mentors, parents, and mentees, as well as staff policy and procedures. Active in mentor and parent training, planning events/trips for mentors and mentees to include completing check requests, ordering food, purchasing tickets, securing transportation and designing, emailing and collecting permission slips. Daily data entry into MENTORCORE data base system. Coach for 11 other CBM CARES Office Managers around the country.

Miss Nikki Pearson served as the Program Coordinator for the Concerned Black Men Capital City Cares Mentoring Initiative, Washington, DC. She established this new project, supervised a staff of two group facilitators. She developed and implemented a major mentor/mentee recruitment effort to meet the requirements of a federal grant—exceeding program benchmarks—recruiting 55 male mentors within 90 days. Miss Nikki is a visionary, and one who sees and finds the necessary resources to fulfill a need ahead of time . Her research skills are impeccable and caused her to locate and receive community services and develop longstanding community partnerships with local clergy, social and government officials. She designed flyers, announcements, press releases and promotional items about the program, researching and developing contacts in the community for the purpose of forming partnerships to recruit mentors and to build the CARES mentoring program in the local community. Researched and wrote all training manuals, for the mentors, parents, and mentees, as well as staff policy and procedures. Active in mentor and parent training. Daily data entry into MentorPRO data base system. Miss Nikki was called on by the CBM National Executive Director to develop and facilitate a staff development workshops for the entire National Staff, as well as present at the yearly staff retreat. She is a skilled teacher, facilitator, and interviewer with years of experience working with disadvantaged populations, interacting with each individual to determine their specific needs, and matching them to the appropriate services and resources. . She is a member of the Prince George’s County Community Re-Entry Advisory Council, as well as Licensed Minister at First Baptist Church of Glenarden where she serves as Bible Institute Instructor, Founder and Facilitator for the Women in Ministry Support Ministry.

My responsibilities included, providing administrative and clerical support to the project director. I was also responsible for direct recruitment of returning citizens from CSOSA, faith-based prison ministries, and local non-profit programs. I developed relationships with the staff at Hope Village Half Way House Community where I was given an office and classroom to teach and facilitate life skills job readiness/job training workshops. I developed the Life Skills and Job Readiness/Retention training curriculum, facilitated and taught the classes. Worked in collaboration with CSOSA Agents, as well as CSOSA VOTEE staff to provide and train their staff in Job development and retention for returning citizens. I spent endless hours in research to develop the curriculum for both the life skills and job readiness/retention workshops. I made connections in the local community so that we could provide funds/tokens for transportation for our clients for job searching and go to work until they received their first pay check. We partnered with local banks who provided workshops on saving and investing money. to help our clients establish bank accounts, and we partnered with people and organizations to donate ties and shirts to the men, as well as other services they needed. I provided case management for 35 clients, conducted eligibility interviews and worked along with a team of 5 to determine appropriate placement of the clients and to determine their specific needs. Worked closely with CSOSA, faith-based, government and social services organizations to find adult mentors for the clients. Developed relationships in the community with various employers who made agreements to hire our clients. I developed and implemented a major job development effort to meet the requirements of a federal grant—exceeding program benchmarks. (Was responsible for locating jobs for over 50 clients in less two months and they held a 90% retention rate for over 90-days)

-Provided spiritual counseling on an on-call basis, as well as served as Worship Leader, Choir Director, Psalmist, and Preacher for Sunday Services.- Developed Bible Studies and taught Mid-Week Bible Study Classes- Provided transportation for residents who wanted to attend church services in the community, as well as provided rides to and from doctor visits and job searches- Formed the first Center Gospel Choir and Praise Team who were featured in several local and Salvation Army magazines and papers.- Developed and established Pulpit attendants who served in-house clergy and visiting clergy, speakers and facilitators.-Partnered with local musicians and Psalmist by attending their services with Salvation Army residents and choir/praise team and providing music.- Taught the fundamental Christian doctrines, assisted in the first wedding ceremony and held the first funeral service at the Chapel.
